Meet our Staff
Doug Sweeney
Owner/Operator
Mr. Sweeney earned his Business Management degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1977. He has graduated from the GM School of Merchandising and Management and also from Leadership Mahoning Valley in 1989. He has served on the GM National Fixed Operation Dealer Board. The dealerships have won numerous sales and customer satisfaction awards over the years, including the coveted Dealer of the Year Award, GM’s top 100 dealerships in the Nation, for five years.
Mr. Sweeney served on the board of National City Bank, Northeast. He is an elder, past corporate chairman, and member for 42 years of Poland Presbyterian Church, a member of the Board of Directors for the Regional Chamber and The Better Business Bureau, a former board member of the YSU Penguin Club, a member of United Way Leadership Club and Legacy Society, United Way Campaign chairperson in 2007-2008, past board chairman of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Mahoning Valley, past board chairman of the American Red Cross-Mahoning Chapter, a former Chairperson and Board Member of the Ohio Federation of Independent Colleges fundraising effort in the tri county area and Ohio, past Chairperson of the YMCA of Youngstown’s Partner of Youth Campaign which raises substantial monies for Youth memberships, past president of the Automobile Dealers Association of Northeast Ohio, past chairman of the Vocational Advisory Committee for the Youngstown City Schools, and a past co-chairman of the Forum Children’s Hospital Golf Classic and the American Cancer Society Golf Tournaments, golf tournaments raising substantial funds for the hospital and the Cancer Society.
He is an avid Boater and hobbies include bicycling and Ohio State and YSU football. He is married to wife Patricia and has three daughters and two grandchildren.
Dave Baker
CFO
Mr. Baker earned his BSBA (Accounting) degree from Youngstown State University (YSU) in 1982. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1986. Mr. Baker was employed from 1982-1995 by Hill Barth & King CPA’s and focused his attention on small business clients. He joined the Sweeney dealerships as their CFO in November, 1995.
Mr. Baker was inducted into the Boardman High School Athletic Hall of Fame (Basketball/Baseball) in1999. He also earned 6 varsity letters while at YSU.
Mr. Baker is a former board member of the YSU Penguin Club. He is also a member of Holy Family Parish in Poland and served on its Finance Committee for 8 years. He is an avid golfer and has coached Poland Youth Baseball since 1997. He is married to wife Ursula and has one daughter and two sons.
Ryan Case
Internet Manager
I am originally from Austintown, OH and I graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration in 2004. I also earned my Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) Certification in 2004.
I have been with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC since 2004. I am currently the Internet Sales Manager but also handle networking, hardware and software support.
I enjoy playing sports, poker, & darts. I also am a die-hard Cleveland Browns Fan and season ticket holder.
Ed Gainard
Used Car Manager
My name is Ed Gainard. I am the used car manager here at Sweeney Chevrolet. I have worked in the auto industry for 30 years, the last 8 I have spent with Sweeney. I grew up in Girard, Ohio and currently reside in Liberty, Ohio with my wife Kathy. I have two Children, Katy (31) and Sean (28). I am a graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio. In my free time I love spending time with my pets, 3 dogs and 1 cat and watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (I have been a lifelong fan).
Anthony Garono
Sales Manager
I grew up in Canfield, OH and graduated from there in 1993. I still reside in Canfield and have been with the Sweeney organization since March 2005. I was in sales from 2005, 2006 & 2007 and was part of GM Mark of Excellence for all three years. In 2008 I completed F & I school at GM headquarters in Detroit, MI. I was an F & I manager at Sweeney’s until March of 2009 when I was promoted to Sales Manager.
In my spare time I truly enjoy spending every second with my twins, Theresa and Anthony. I also enjoy golfing and spending time with family. My mother and my three sisters and their families still live in Canfield, while my brother David lives in Virginia with his family and my younger brother Steven lives in Atlanta.
David Jimm
Used Car Manager
I have 13 years of experience in the automotive business and I have been with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC for 2 years. I enjoy helping people through the entire car buying process and love when people find the car they have been looking for. I have been with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC for 23 years. As a Sales Manager, I enjoy interacting with customers and finding them the right vehicle to fit their needs.
I am a life-long resident of Struthers, OH. I enjoy spending time with my wife, Kathy, and my two sons, Frank and A.J. Frank works at CCA prison in Youngstown, OH and as a part-time police officer. A.J. is a sophomore at The University of Akron where he is studying marketing.
My hobbies include traveling, golfing, camping, gardening, and watching sports.
John Pugh

Derek Snyder
Executive Manager
I’ve spent my entire life around the automotive business at my family’s dealerships, Snyder Pontiac Buick GMC in Mercer, PA and Snyder Oldsmobile Pontiac Cadillac in Grove City, PA. I’ve been with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC for 2 years. I studied at Marian University in Indianapolis and also was the Valedictorian of GM Dealership Management Class 229.
I like to spend my free time with my family and friends. One of my favorite past times is attending sporting events.
Bill Baird

I grew up in Lowellville, OH and currently live in Poland, OH with my wife, Becky, and 2 girls, Lily and Zoe.
I’ve been in the Automotive industry for two years and have recently joined Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC. Previously, I worked in Environmental Sales and services for 15 years. I’m a very easy-going person to work with, and like to get straight to the point.
I was a member of the Poland Fire Department from 1992 to 2009. My free time I like to spend with my family and working on our house.

Originally from the Akron area, I currently live in Howland with my wife, Joyce, and my son, Zach. I am the advisor of the Sky’s the Limit 4-H group which focuses on rockets and robotics. As the Quality Control Specialist, I believe that quality is more than meeting the requirements or expectations of a client but to surpass them.
Mike Boggia

I grew up in Hubbard, Ohio, where I currently reside.
I have been in GM automotive sales for 21 years.
I am a GMAC/Ally certified leasing consultant and also sell new and used vehicles.
I drive a GMC SIERRA EXT 4X4 to haul my favorite hobby, motocross and supercross, which I currently race.
I was national champ in the AHRMA 125 expert class in 1994.

I grew up locally in Transfer, Pa. and currently reside in Hubbard Ohio, moving there in 1986 after marrying my wife, Maureen (Moe).
I have been in the Automotive Business for less than one year. Previously I worked at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries for over 21 years, in many different capacities. I truly enjoy the automotive business. It was a big change, but I do look forward to going to work each day and assisting my clients. I plan on being here for many years to come.
As far as Hobbies go, I enjoy traveling, cooking, playing cards, and taking care of my home.

I joined Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC in February 2010. My sales career started in 2000, I sold Indian motorcycles and used cars until 2005 in Hillsboro, ND. I then moved here to Austintown, OH and sold Chrysler Jeep and Dodge from 2005 to 2010. I have been in the car industry for 19 years; I started by cleaning cars for my Dad’s dealerships in Colorado.

When you’re born & raised in Youngstown, Ohio I guess you can’t help but have some type of connection to the auto industry with a General Motors plant practically in your back yard. However, my career in this industry began years ago when I worked for that GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio. I also was a sales consultant with Saturn of Boardman prior to joining the team at Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC in November 2011. A few of my hobbies are weight training/personal training, nutrition/wellness, watching/attending sporting events & cooking/baking. I’m a fan of Ohio State football, Steelers football, Penguins hockey, Indians baseball, Phantoms hockey, MMA, US Rugby.

I grew up in Youngstown and graduated from Cardinal Mooney in 1982. I have lived in Boardman for over 20 years with my wife Chris and our twin girls Amanda and Kaila and our boys Nico and Phillip.
I just recently joined the Sweeney organization but have been in the Auto Industry for almost 10 years.
In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, watching baseball games, watching our boys play sports for Boardman H.S. and spending time with family.
Linda Gabrick

I have been with the Sweeney organization since 1974 when the Chevrolet dealership was on Wick Avenue. I’m originally from the West Side of Youngstown and graduated from Chaney High School. I was hired at State Chevrolet the day after graduation and have been with the Sweeney family dealership ever since. My husband Ed and I have been married for 33 years, live in Austintown and have 4 boys. I loved every minute of motherhood!
I have held several different jobs during my employ, from switchboard operator to Finance Manager and I am currently the Delivery Coordinator/Accessories Specialist/CSI facilitator. I love meeting new people every day and hope that I make a difference in our customer’s positive dealership experience here! I love to cook and also love to read, but my true passion is found in being with family!

I grew up in Washingtonville, OH, where my parents still live. I graduated from Leetonia High School and Youngstown State University with a finance degree. I have lived in the Mahoning Valley area my entire life and currently own a home in Austintown, OH.

I am The Dealer representative for Sweeney Chevrolet, Buick and GMC for General Motors at the Lordstown facility. Dave Tacsik

I was born/raised on the Westside of Youngstown, graduated from Chaney High in 1972.
I’ve been in the automotive business nearly 44 years, since I was 13, when I learned to drive & worked at my Dad’s car lot.
I moved to South Florida in 1974-worked as a mechanic, in the parts dept & international sales for VW-Porsche-Audi & Toyota until I returned to Youngstown in 1979 to assist my Dad with the family business as Vice-President of Huck’s Motor’s Inc., one of the Oldest established dealerships in Ohio-Since 1946. Being self-employed, I was involved in all phases of the Automotive business, purchasing, sales, title/documentation, advertising, repairing, detailing the vehicles & of course the upkeep/maintenance of the facility.
I understand that a vehicle purchase is the 2nd largest investment most folks make in their life. With that in mind, I believe in total Respect for the customer-as they are the reason we’re here. When you drive off in the vehicle that fits your needs & are happy with, then I’ve done my job.
I’ve been a drummer/percussionist for 40 yrs., recording & performing with many bands at Idora Park, Powers Auditorium, Stambaugh Auditorium, Mill Creek Park & YSU & many local night spots thru the years.
When not performing, I restore vintage drums; selling worldwide.
I’m happily engaged to my Fiancee, Cathy from Howland & we enjoy attending live concerts, baseball & football games.
My 2 sons, Joel & Cory still reside with me.My best friend, Misha, my Staffordshire Terrier takes me for weekly walks thru our fav place, Mill Creek Park.
I play in St. Brendan’s Sonshine Folk choir nearly every Sunday.

Beth Vannoy

I grew up in Liberty Township. I have been with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC for 5 years. In addition to being a Sales and Leasing Consultant I am also the Trainer for the dealership.
I am a mother of two teenage boys who go to Liberty High School. One of my favorite things to do is play co-ed softball on our Sweeney softball team and spend time with my kids, nieces, and nephews.
I truly enjoy my job. I have a reputation of being an extremely helpful and easy going salesperson. The majority of my customers are referred to me by previous customers, due to my easy going personality.

I was born and raised in Liberty twp, graduating in 1993. After attending The University of Toledo for two years I returned home to finish up at YSU with a BSAS degree in 1998. I have been in the automotive business since 1999 and have been the Business manager at Sweeney Chevrolet since July of 2008. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

I’ve been in the automotive business for 25 years and have spent the last 11 years with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC.

My name is Joe Bumgardner. I am a service consultant and Sweeney Chevrolet. I’ve spent the last 5 years in the automotive industry, all 5 of which I have spent with Sweeney. I am from Leetonia, Ohio where I still reside with my girlfriend of 5 years, Anna. I am a graduate of Leetonia High School, where Anna and I met. I grew up and currently live in East Palestine, OH.
I’ve been in the automotive business for 17 year and have spent the last 15 years with Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC.
I really enjoy meeting new customer and focus on providing great customer service to keep them coming back.
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my band, and spending time with my Wife and two kids, Morgan and Clark.

I am a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area, and have worked for the Sweeney Company for 37 years, all in service. I own and drive a 1969 Camaro Alcohol Funny Car for fun, and also enjoy camping with my wife on weekends when we are not at a race track.

My name is Keith Welton, and I am the Quick Service Manager at Sweeney Chevrolet. I have worked for Sweeney for 4 years, and in the auto industry for 9 years, but I’ve been working on cars since I was a young child. I was born and raised in Poland, Ohio where I still reside today with my wife Katie (of six years) and 3 year old son. I am a graduate of Poland Seminary High School. In my free time I enjoy watching Buckeye Football, working out, bowling and spending time with my family. Here at Sweeney I am committed to giving customers an excellent service experience, and making sure they are completely satisfied.
